Energy Saving Opportunity Scheme (ESOS)

What is ESOS?

The ESOS Directive aims to increase energy efficiency within your business and improve profits. Businesses are obliged to undertake a mandatory energy audit across site(s) to assess energy use and efficiency opportunities from areas of significant energy consumption (at least 90% of total use).

How will ESOS affect your business?

This legislation will affect any organisation that:

  • Employs 250 or more people OR
  • Employs less than 250 people but have an annual turnover in excess of €50million and an annual balance sheet in excess of €43 million.

The assessment period must include 31st December 2014 and end before 5th December 2015, by when a formal online notification to the Environment Agency must be lodged.
